Cyber Security Engineer
The HLS Cyber Security Team is tasked with pro-actively identifying threat actors attacking (or planning to attack) the organization and its clients. The role of the Cyber Security Team is to detect, disrupt and eradicate any threat that we or our cliental face. We also must design, build, and deliver security tools and services to clients in a timely and effective manner.
Reporting to the Cyber Security Manager, the Cyber Security Engineer’s primary focus will be on strengthening defenses with the aim of preventing cyberattacks through proactive measures.
To be successful in this position, the Cyber Security Engineer should be a highly motivated, results-driven individual, with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, and thorough understanding in a wide range of security tools, techniques, and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise in creating solutions for existing security issues.
- Develop and implement automations in response to and in anticipation of security incidents.
- Configure, test, and manage elements of the organization’s information security architecture.
- Conduct security process administration including remediating vulnerabilities.
- Participate in identifying and implementing additional security controls and solutions.
- Continually evaluate and upgrade security features.
- Evaluate information security configurations and monitor the effectiveness of implemented changes.
- Effectively resolve problems and roadblocks as they occur.
- Evaluate network system security configurations to ensure efficacy and compliance with policies and procedures.
- This role will cover the European time zone.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Cyber Security Manager.
Requirements:
- A Passion for Cyber Security, learning, and knowledge-sharing combined with an analytical and curious mindset to carry out task diligently.
- A sound base of technical knowledge of the security requirements required to protect and secure complex IT infrastructure, including cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of security systems including anti-virus applications, content filtering, firewalls, authentication systems, and notification systems.
- Experience with programming languages and/or scripting tools such as Python, Power Shell, and Bash for automation.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as to thrive as a member of a remote team.
- Ability to navigate and adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with a team of like-minded, cross-functional individuals.
- Strong English (verbal and written) and general communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering, or a similar field.
- Security, Cloud, Networking Certifications (e.g. Security+, CASP+, Certified Cloud Practitioner, etc.).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud security.
- Experience with system administration on Linux, MacOS, and Windows.
- Proficiency in security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, EDR/XDR).
- Knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools and penetration testing.
